Patch Notes – Rematch

BATTLE MODE – PvP Returns!

  • Bomber Royale is now Battle Mode, the new home for every kind of PvP in Trove.
  • Head to the PvP area in the Hub and step through the portal to queue up, or queue straight from the navigation menu.
  • Battle Mode has its own currency: the Battle Coin, earned by taking part in matches.
  • The Bomber Bench is now the Battle Bench, with a new set of recipes to spend your Battle Coins on.
  • Battle Coins can be converted into Burnt Battle Coins at the Battle Bench.

Game Modes

  • Capture the Flag, Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, and Bomber Royale are all in the queue.
  • Several PvP maps have had a fresh pass, bringing the total map pool to 35.
  • Capture the Flag, Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch each draw from their own pool of 10 arenas, with 5 more in the Bomber Royale rotation.

Matchmaking and Match Flow

  • Loading screens name the mode you are heading into.
  • Leaving a match before it ends blocks you from the PvP queue for 30 minutes. You are warned and asked to confirm before you go, and the timer keeps running while you are offline.
  • If nobody new has joined your lobby for a couple of minutes and the match still has not started, you will be told you are free to leave with no penalty.

PvP Stat Scaling

  • Your stats inside a PvP match are calculated from the stats you carry outside of it. Your gear, your gems and your class all still count, and a better-equipped Trovian still walks in stronger.
  • What changes is the gap. Scaling follows a curve that rises quickly at first and then flattens out: early progress carries across almost in full, while the higher a stat climbs, the less each further point is worth once you are in a match.
  • Class roles still apply on top of all this, so a tank is still tankier than a glass cannon and every class still feels like itself.
  • The character sheet shows your scaled PvP stats while in a match.

PvP Rewards and Progression

  • Battle Boxes are earned by playing Battle Mode matches, and can be opened for rewards.
  • PvP levels have been reset for all players.
  • Players will receive boxes for the first match they play in a day and the first time they win a match in a day.
  • New weekly leaderboards track your pvp activity! Score high and earn battle coins and temporary Banner styles!
  • Battle Bench has a variety of new collectables to be crafted for Battle Coins!

General PvP

  • Stuns and slows now have diminishing returns. The first one to land runs its full duration, each one after it lands shorter than the last, and once enough have landed in a row you shrug them off entirely for a short time.
  • Stuns and slows are tracked separately, so being chained with slows will never make you immune to stuns, or the other way around.
  • Revenant: Spirit Spears costs less health to keep active in PvP.
  • Shadow Hunter can no longer attack through walls in PvP.

Cornerstones

  • Sky Projector: unlock biome skies and set the sky above your cornerstone. Unlocks are purchased with Biome Slides and last 30 days; switching between skies you already own is free.
  • Jukebox: the same flow for music, using Blank Records. Pick a track to play over your cornerstone, swap freely between tracks you have unlocked.
  • Both can only be placed on a cornerstone, and only affect players standing on that cornerstone.
  • The Sky Projector and Jukebox can be purchased in the in-game store!

Tiny Quests

  • A number of pets that were missing the “flying” synergy now have it.
  • The Tiny Enchantment: Rootfoot recipe now works as intended.
  • The Tiny Quest Pathfinder shows the Frogginator 3000 and FROBBOT previews at the right size.
  • The Active Tiny Quest tab no longer closes on its own while you browse it with a controller.
  • Console: Ally consumables can now be equipped in the Tiny Quest offer window.
  • Console: The Tiny Quest option in the navigation menu can be reached with a controller.
  • Console: The Claimed tab no longer comes up empty when opening the menu with a controller.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed the Sandsea Spirit Revenant costume not using its intended visual effects.
  • Fixed Weekly Highest Paragon Level, its class-specific leaderboards, and Heart-a-Phones Sent and Received sometimes failing to grant their rewards.
  • Fixed several rare crashes and disconnects.
  • Console: Tooltips now appear when browsing Allies and Equipment in Collections.
  • Console: Navigation menu button prompts display correctly.
  • Fixed a bug where Reliquaries were not functioning as intended.

Tutorial: sunlight bulbs now spawn for players who are stuck on the “harvest sunlight bulbs” step.
