Hey Trovians!
The shadows are alive with excitement this month: Shadow’s Eve returns, community events await, and new surprises are creeping closer.
Join us as we look back at recent highlights, reveal what’s coming next, and shed some light on a few important updates along the way. Step into the shadows with us!

Before the shadows crept in, September brought the Block Party update, packed with new ways to stay alive and power up before the darker days ahead.
The new Combat Block has your back when things get intense, Mystic Gems let you squeeze out even more power from your gear, and more surprises helped set the stage for the spooky season ahead. If you haven’t done so yet, read the patch notes over here!
September was anything but quiet in Trove! Alongside the Block Party update, we saw plenty of fun activities.
The brand-new Backpack Blunder mount hopped onto our backs and into Trove with the latest Twitch Drops, the Trash to Treasure event turned forgotten clutter into valuable rewards like mounts, allies, and decorations, and Trovians everywhere took part in the ultimate Healthy Food vs. Junk Food showdown, choosing sides, feeding hungry denizens, and casting their votes to decide which cuisine would come out on top (with a few grape-fueled surprises from the Skeleton Clan along the way).
It was a month full of treats (and maybe a few tricks), paving the way for what’s to come this October.

We’re doing things a little different this time. Instead of our usual Q&A, we’re using this space to talk about something that’s been at the center of many conversations: fair play, third-party tools, and what we’re doing about them. There’s been a lot of feedback since our last post, from worries about duping and exploiting to questions about mods, and we want to follow up on some of it here.
A bigger step against unfair play
We know that simply reacting to duping and exploiting isn’t enough, and we’re not happy just chasing problems after they happen. That’s why we’re looking into deeper, long-term solutions to tackle these issues at their root. This includes exploring new ways to prevent unfair advantages and talking with partners about how to improve things behind the scenes.
We’re not ready to share details yet, but one thing is clear: we’re exploring new ways to address these issues more effectively. We had hoped it wouldn’t come to this, but community feedback shows us that deeper action is necessary.
Mods: it’s about how you use them
Mods are part of the Trove experience, and in general, their use is tolerated. But the mod itself is rarely the problem. It’s how it’s used that matters.
A tool that helps you accept invites isn’t an issue by itself. But if it’s used to join exploitative activities, that becomes a problem. The same goes for other mods: opening boxes faster isn’t a problem by itself, but if those boxes were obtained through duping, it is. Another example is boss radar mods. Highlighting where bosses are is generally fine, but if a mod goes further and makes walls transparent to reveal things you shouldn’t normally see, that crosses the line.
Features like repeatedly crafting items, leveling up your Gems, or switching a full Tome are convenient and generally fine. However, if they’re used to bypass core systems, for instance, to avoid the AFK timer or keep the game running without any player input, that’s where they cross the line.
This is why we can’t give a definitive “yes” or “no” list. What’s acceptable today might change if it starts being used in ways that harm the game or give unfair advantages. As a player, it’s your responsibility to consider the context and the potential consequences of using any mod.
We don’t officially support mods, but we tolerate them within these boundaries, and we expect every player to make thoughtful decisions about how they use them.
We appreciate all your feedback and will keep an eye on things as we work to make the game a better experience for everyone.
Remember: If you’re ever unsure whether a mod or tool crosses the line, the safest choice is not to use it!
